Four, Two, and One

Wick and wax one candle winks with one flame
Lighting up a room dim in gray and darkness
Like my face brightening at the mention of your name
Ignited by a spark from an excited touch and caring caress...

We wade in water wiped white with wind
Watched by blue eyes and those of a blue-gold dragonfly
Splash and swim in this summer day without end
Hold me with wet arms under a deep blue sky...

I only step away to kick rocks out of our path
Along this road we walk never lonely or alone
My past wears away like castles made of shifting sand
Being replaced by what our love builds on stone...

Wind gusts bending bare branches as it blows
Snow drifting as winter begins a soft season
We warm each other with whispers while candles glow
As we begin this year with more faith and less reason...

All of this beginning with just one kiss
These are the elements of us, of our world
Too amazing to believe, too real to dismiss
Arms wrapped hands holding legs wound toes curled...
