Meditory

the ocean is calm
the soft supple water
barely rubs the sand then
slides slowly away.
waves that once
crested and bubbled
wild with wind and trouble
now enjoy a stillness
blessed by a calm
that is alive with
prayer and
a quiet kind of love.

the air is tanged with the smells of the sea
mixed with memories of spring both salty and sweet
and the wind is high enough to ruffle my hair
but not enough to move me out of place
and the blessing of this breeze
is like God Himself kissing me right on the cheek.

light that shines
enough so it should
dazzle my eyes
and cause the claws
of crows to deepen
into the wrinkles of times
when the light of truth
was just too hard to bear
and we shut our eyes
hard against that sight
but this light is different
i look directly at the sun
and there is no blaze and no fire
the light of this fair day is a gentle glow
my eyes could gaze all day at this sun and never tire
and even though there are no waves
i may just put my board into the blue and green and float.
